Important Dates and Deadlines

This year the WKIP will be held in the ahupuaʻa of Keālia, South Kona. We will be working closely with the community to research and document the moʻolelo, oral histories, and wahi kupuna of Keālia's traditional agricultural field system to aid in the eventual clearing and restoration of this ancient food system for ʻaina based education and food production.

Program Dates: July 1 - August 2, 2024

(workdays are from Monday through Friday,

40 hours per week)​.

1. Application Deadline: Applications and 

     all supplemental materials must be

     received by March 31, 2024.

 

2. Interviews:  April 22 - April 26, 2024 

 

3. Notification Letters: Sent out by

   Early May

Eligibility and Application Process

Emerging professionals and/or college students (undergraduate or graduate) in any of the Community Colleges or Universities in Hawaiʻi are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to emerging professionals and students in the fields of Hawaiian Studies, Pacific Island Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology, Geography, or related resource management fields. Preference will also be given to students with ties and commitments to live and work in Hawaiʻi.

The application process is used to inform the WKIP Selection Committee about your background, interest and skills. Upon review of your completed application and supplemental materials, you will be notified of your application status. If you are selected as a semi-finalist, a personal interview will be conducted by the WKIP Selection Committee.

  1. Resume

  2. Latest college transcript (Official and unofficial transcripts are accepted)

  3. Submit a writing sample no more than 5 pages.

  4. Two letters of recommendation (1 academic and 1 professional).       (Please use the Recommendation Form Template)
